Secret City Adventures has spent over a decade pioneering immersive theatrical experiences in Toronto, from the storied halls of Casa Loma to the trails of Black Creek Pioneer Village. Their latest venture raised the stakes considerably: a murder mystery dinner experience created in collaboration with Netflix, set in the universe of the Knives Out film series.
The Perfect Bite invites guests into an exclusive soirée hosted by the renowned Chef Maribelle Moore, where a four-course meal doubles as a trail of evidence, and the company you’re dining with might be the prime suspect.
Working with the Knives Out property presented a particular creative challenge. The franchises marketing generally leans into the power of its star-studded cast, but The Perfect Bite was introducing new characters not tied to recognizable faces. The solution was to lean into archetype and colour, building a cast through silhouette and style: each figure defined not by their face, but by their energy, their posture, the shadows they cast. The result is artwork that feels at home in the universe it shares with the films, while carving out its own visual identity: mysterious, atmospheric, and full of characters you’re not sure you can trust
